I remember Mrs Thurber when I was in High School at North Hunterdon in the early 80's. The Latin Club arranged trips to Europe in the spring and both my junior and senior year I was able to go on the trip and Mrs Thurber was also on both trips. She was a wonderful person to talk to and travel with. I was very sorry to hear of her passing.

My grandmother lived across the hall from Edna for two years at Independence Manor. It was always a delight and pleasure to talk with Edna. She was always looking at for others. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

I have very found meories of Mrs. Thurber as well as Mr. Thurber. When I was a child growing up on Lingert Avenue. The Castner's and my siblings and I would visit them often; they always welcomed us into their house with a class of cold tea on a hot day. We also enjoyed visiting the clock workshop. What a wonderful memory from my childhood.

Edna was my Great-Great-Aunt. Since she lived in New Jersey while I was growing up in Rhode Island, I did not have much chance to know her until I was an adult. How glad I am to have met her then! And she loved that I married a young man from New Jersey! She was truly an inspiration. We loved visiting her at her steel home in New Jersey and we admired her energy and zest for life. I'm so glad that she is with her Charlie now. God Bless you, Aunt Edna.
Love, Melissa Schlenker (grandaughter of Betty Wilbur Prosser Jackson)

Aunt Edna was my Great Aunt.
I have many fond memories of Uncle Charlie and Aunt Edna when they would visit my Grandmother,Beatrice(Thurber) Wilbur.
Uncle Charlie would tell a tale and ask Aunt Edna "isn't that right Edna?" Aunt Edna would answer "more or less Charlie ,more or less!"
Indeed Aunt Edna was a special gal and ever so elegant.
I was fortunate to have known her. We will miss her.
Sincerely,
Barbara Semenkow

You will always be in our hearts. You and Mr. T were there for us when we moved into our home as newlyweds. Both of you were helpful to us in so many ways. Your love and kindness will always be remembered. I've passed many of your 'helpful' hints on to family and friends. We will miss you, but knowing your are together with Mr. T makes the loss so much easier to handle. Rest safe and peaceful in G-d's hands.

The Thurbers were my sister's next door neighbors for many, many years. Nothing but fond memories of that fisty lady and her Charlie. Your journey on this earth is done, dear lady. Carry on in Heaven with your Charlie. You will always be in our hearts.

For three years - from May 1974 till August 1977 - the Thurbers were my "back yard neighbors". I enjoyed knowing them. Charlie Thurber used to play with my kids and they had such fun. Since we went back home (Denmark) I have visited Edna Thurber every time I came back to NJ for a visit. I'm very grateful to have known such a lively person as her - full of fun and spunk. I shall never forget her.
