Terry was always there--a friend, a co-worker, assistant--whatever needed, Terry could fulfill.
Her friendly smile lighted the room, and her never-ending enthusiasm was contagious. She brightened our lives.
A devoted SAT test giver, Terry spent many a test administration in charge of 34 students. Her competence was always felt. When she "retired" from her post, it was because her role in life has changed to include that of being a proud grandmother. Her family took center stage, always. And, she was so very proud of everyone. How blessed she was to have had such love in her life.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your great loss. She will be sorely missed by all of us, but most of all, by her family. May your faith sustain you in the days to come.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Carol C-J

Hannibal, John, David, Andrew and Steven thank you for sharing Terry with us. Bethlehem is a better place because she lived.
I will always remember a smile that was genuine, and words that were real. Terry represented the community with distinction, integrity, and enthusiasm. She had the courage to stand up and do the right thing. When the Bethlehem Board of Education needed leadership, direction, and judgment, she was there. When the children of Bethlehem needed a school that put kids first she was there. Her love and devotion to children serves as an example of selfless public service. She gave endless time, made significant contributions, and made Bethlehem a better place for children to live and learn.

There must have been an opening in heaven for a school advocate because Terry would be the best candidate.
Terry was the mother hen of North Hunterdon High School. Whenever a staff member needed good advice on student or school issues Terry was the person they all came to. I personally loved and respected how much time and energy she spent on making the educational field successful for everyone. Terry has taught me many lessons on education and more importantly Life. We've had many conversions throughout the years on how to make students more successful and the important bonds family plays in the roles of student development. I will miss all of her daily advice. She will surely be missed but never forgotten. My prayers go out to the Delorenzo family.

The North Hunterdon High School family has lost one of its members this past week, Terry DeLorenzo. As Secretary to the Principal for over 20 years, Terry was a fixture in the main office, one who all the students and staff knew and loved. Her passing is an incredible loss to everyone within the North Hunterdon-Voorhees High School District as her charisma, sense of humor and energy went far beyond the walls of our high school. Terry’s infectious laughter and upbeat nature will be greatly missed by all and our school will not quite be the same without her.
In addition to guiding and assisting four different principals, including myself, Terry had also served on the Board of Education in Bethlehem Township for 15 years, being elected both President and Vice President during that time. Her passing is also a loss for the Bethlehem Township community as she was known by so many residents. The light that she brought to our high school for so many years will continue to shine as we will always remember her.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Hughes
Principal of North Hunterdon High School

Terry was truly an inspiration to me when I met her through my first volunteer effort for the Bethlehem Township School District. As one of the few dedicated volunteers who was not an active parent at the school, but as a township member who was still giving her time and energy after her children were out of the district she truly exemplified for me the volunteer effort in this community. I greatly admired her dedication and her insight into our education system in town. Terry was such a kind and compassionate person. She was devoted to making the Bethlehem Twp. school district as good as it could be for the kids. My fondest memory is the day Terry found out she had won a re-election on our Board of Ed without making any effort to campaign. She laughed with our Superintendent about the fact that she didn't need to send out flyers or put signs out around the township, the people knew her and wanted her back! And we certainly did. Thank you to Terry's family for supporting her work on the Board of Ed all those years. Our schools are better today because of her dedication. You will surely be missed by many Terry, but your spirit lives on in your children; from your family, North Hunterdon, and Bethlehem Township. May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

What a wonderful loving soul! We were blessed to have had Terry in our lives. She was my friend and the other grandmother in our grandchildren's lives. We laughed about Nick's latest escapades and the things he would say. He brought her so much joy. She wanted to hold Jack, who turned one on August 1st, but her frail body wouldn't let her. He is a happy, joyous baby, who will know his grandmother well through the many stories he will hear. She was a "dream come true" mother-in-law for our daughter. Debbie essentially had two mothers, for which we were delighted. Our hearts hurt, but know she is at peace and free of pain. I told Nick that when he feels wind on his face, it is Mema throwing him kisses. I know he will throw them right back to her. Dance with the angels, Terry.

How did God know to bless me with this woman I called "Mom"? My life changed for the better the day I met her. I am honored to share the name DeLorenzo and dedicate my life to being more like her. I always said that my own Mother and Mother-in-Law were the two most amazing people I ever met. I am/was so proud. How did I get to be so lucky? Thank you Mom for all of our chats over wine and something you "whipped" up. Thank you for your support and understanding. Thank you for that expert advise I always cherished. And most of all thank you for loving Andrew and I and your beloved grandchildren - Nick and Jack. What a "Mema"!!!! I will never forget how you put Nick down for his nap at your house...in the rocking chair, on your chest, holding him like he was your own. He would sleep on you for 2 hours and I remember asking myself if I would do that. I was amazed by her. I mourn for her passing. I mourn for Hannibal and my brother-in-laws. My heart wrenches for the grandchildren. I am selfish and want her here - but know she is at peace and in heaven.
I miss you my dear Mother-in-Law and love you very much.

I first met Terry when I started working at NHHS. She had such an easy way about her. As nervous as I was about starting my new job, she had put my worries to rest in only a few moments with her kindness and wonderful sense of humor.
I can't believe how hard she had fought the past year. Each time we would think the battle was over, there was another waiting for her. As exhausted as she must have been she still rose to the occasion and fought with everything that she had. Through it all she was never short tempered, angry, or sad. She still had kind words for everyone else around her. She would go out of her way to make others around her feel comfortable. I only wish I could be more like her...always putting others first and keeping my chin up no matter what.
I hope that her family feels her strength and warmth around them as they learn to move on in life without her physical presence. She will always live on through them as they share the many gifts that she gave them as their mother, wife, and friend.
If there is anything that you need, please do not hesitate to ask. Terry will always have a special place in my heart.

I was blessed and privileged to have grown up living next door to the DeLorenzo family for 16 years. There were so many great memories and certainly too many to mention, whether playing badminton or bocce ball in the yard, playing cards with Mr. D and the boys in the kitchen, or listening to David playing his piano ‘Willy’; Mrs. D was always there laughing and joking with us, telling us stories, feeding us, offering advice, and sometimes reprimanding with good reason. Legend says that since God could not be physically present amongst all his people at all times, he created mothers to take his place. I know I speak for my 3 brothers in saying that Mrs. D was a mother of god to all of us while growing up…she really was a true second Mother. She was a beautiful and loving soul and will be missed by all. She will remain in the hearts of all who knew her and her smile will continue to light our lives. Although deeply saddened by this loss, I know her spirit will live on through her family and friends. It has been many years since I have seen Mrs. D and her wonderful family. Growing up very close to the Delorenzo family, I have so many wonderful memories starting at the age of 12! Mrs. D was always so postive, happy, and was ALWAYS smiling. I loved the way she would make you feel so special and loved ALL the time. She combined her gift of gab, her love of fellow humans, and her positive outlook on life to create magic. I know that her spirit will certainly live on with her children, especially David and Steven whom embody those traits! I recently read a great quote that each of the boys could could put on their mirrors. "Mirror, mirror on the wall, I am my mother afterall".

Dearest Cousin Terry,
Our hearts and love go out to your family who will miss you deeply. Although we didn't see each other as often as we would have liked to, Marie and I can never forget your laughter, energy and incredible hospitality whenever we saw you in West VA and in Hampton. i don't know how you put those sumptuous Italian meals out during our impromptu visits. There was ALWAYS room for one, two, three, ETC. more at the table. I always remember how difficult it was to leave your house once we finished catching up on family news. My phone conversations with you when Hannibal wasn't home to receive my calls were equally as entertaining. I could talk to you for hours. Our sense of humor was so much alike. I will miss those conversations very much. You're "home" with the Farther now, although your family will understandably find that hard to accept for a while. But we're so aware of, as you probably were, the love you had for all of them, and they for you, especially the "Boys." I don't think that we ever witnessed a dull or sad moment during our visits. Being with you and the family whenever we could was a wonderful exercise in how Italian families could hold 10 different conversations simultaneously and NEVER miss a word of any of them.
May you rest in eternal peace in the Father's hands and be there to greet us when we join you.
Much Love,

She always asked about my wife and children. Whenever children came to the office out came the her secret stash of toys and candy. My boys always looked foward to seeing Mrs. D.
We talked about italian food and traditions, many of the conversations reminded me of the conversations I had with my own mother who passed on 15 years ago.
Her life was celebration of love and kindness.

I have known Terry and her wonderful family for about 30 years. She was a true friend, a caring and loving wife and mother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She always had a story to tell and photos to share about them. My prayers are with her family and I know that heaven's gate was open to welcome such a special person. She will be missed by all.

I had the pleasure of serving on the school board with Terry for five years. She always made sure the outcome of any decision was in the best interest of the children. I was always amazed at the number of people Terry knew and she always had a story to tell. She would always lighten up the meeting, but at the end of the evening she never forgot to bring home some cookies for Hannibal. We will miss you.

Theresa,
I'll always remember the times when I'd come up with my parents right after Christmas or in the summer to see you and the family. It seems like yesterday when Aunt Gemma came over to watch me and I'd always have a funny story to tell you afterwards about something mischievous I'd done. And she always told me funny stories about when you, Roey, and Richie when you were little. Thank you for always being good to my mother and I. May you rest in peace.
Love Always,
Michael

My Sister - My Friend
You were always there for me through the years no matter what the situation was.We laughed sometimes, fought sometimes, even cried sometimes, but the most important thing was we loved all the time. A better sister and mentor I could not have asked for. A truer friend and confidant I could not have imagined. So young you had to leave, so senseless and difficult for me to believe. My heart is crying there is no denying. The Lord has taken you but I won't be blue because your spirit is renewed in a better and painless place. Be happy my lovely sister and friend and thank you for your love and inspiration. We will meet again. Luv U 4 ever, Roey

I will never forget answering the phone while working at Kutztown and it was Terry on the other line. She said she needed to post a job opening for an art teacher... I stopped writing and said, "when can I come for an interview?" She was the first person I met at North Hunterdon and was the one who made me feel most at home when I became part of it's family. She was the Mother Hen of our office and made sure she took care of everyone. She will be GREATLY missed. There was no one else quite like her!
Sending prayers of comfort and healing to the entire DeLorenzo family,
Melissa Michael

My memories go back to September 1987, when I started to work with Terry side by side.
She was funny, happy and we laughed alot.
She was there with me when in 1988 my only son passed away at age 14 from his cancer. It pains me to know she had to endure such pain with her cancer.
I was keeping in touch with her and as always she was a fighter
I am glad I knew Terry as I did.

In my many happy years at North, Terry was a trusted friend and colleague to whom I went with many, many questions and concerns. She gave excellent advice and kept me out of trouble by making sure I knew things I needed to know. She was a wonderful secretary, but she was much more - a person who had the school's best interest at heart and a friend. Publicly, she showed me and others in the best possible light. Privately, she was never afraid to tell us when we were headed for trouble or how we could do damage control for things we had already messed up. She was an incredible judge of character, and an amazingly intelligent person.
I have much to thank her for. God bless her and her family.

My Aunt...
A women of courage, strength, compassion, morality and faith. She was devoted to her family and was always there to listen whenever any of us needed advice. She always gave me direction and guidance about education and my teaching career. Her sense of humor made me laugh and she could light up a room with her smile. She was the glue that kept our family close and the one person I could turn to whenever I needed to know about our family's history.Although there is a void in our family that can never be replaced, we can all take comfort in knowing she is at peace and no longer suffering. I am proud to have had such an amazing role model in my life and only hope to be half the woman she was. She will be sorely missed.
Love, Keri

Terry was such a bright light - so full of life, laughter and wisdom about life. I had known her when I was a student and then later as a fellow coworker. Each time I would walk into her office, I felt reassured - we have certainly missed her beautiful presence. Her energy and enthusiasm has inspired us all.
My thoughts and prayers go to the DeLorenzo family.

The first time I met Terry was at a PTA meeting when she first moved to Bethlehem Twp. It must of been least 29 years ago. We were both new to the township. We chaired many different positions on the PTA. We had become good friends through the years. The one thing I still can hear is her laughter. She was always laughing and smiling. As our lives changed we still kept in touch. She had my youngest daughter in her Sunday school class. As Robin progressed so did Terry. I think Robin had her for a Sunday school teacher for at least 4-5 years. Finally Terry decided that as much as she loved Robin it was time for her to have a different teacher. I know that right now she is sitting next to God and sharing a good laugh with him. Our prayers and thoughts are for her family. Lynn & Paul Glazar
