Obituary of Theresa DeLorenzo

On August 15, 2007, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Theresa DeLorenzo passed away as a result of her long and courageous battle with cancer. Theresa was a long time resident of Bethlehem Township, Hunterdon County, NJ and worked at North Hunterdon High School since 1979. From 1992 to 2007, she served on the Bethlehem Township School Board where she held the position of President for four years and served in other executive positions throughout her tenure. She also served on the executive committee of the Hunterdon County School Boards Association, its scholarship committee, and its strategic planning committee. She had the privilege to act as a delegate to the NJ School Boards Association. On May 31, 2007, she was honored with the Maud Dahme School Board Member Recognition Award which recognizes leadership, service to the school district, board-related self-improvement activities and contributions to the board and the children of Hunterdon County. She was a member of St. Anns parish where she taught catechism classes for 17 years. She was a tireless community volunteer, advocate for the students of Hunterdon County and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Hannibal, her four sons, John, David, Andrew and Steven and their wives, Lisa, Jennifer, Deborah and Maria, her five grandchildren, AJ, Dominick, Nicolas, Jack and Daniella, her sister, Rosemarie, brother, Richard, and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2007 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm and again from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Mass held on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 10:00am at St. Anns Catholic Church, 6 Church St., Hampton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa's memory to: Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 140 Littleton Road, Suite 200, Parsippany, NJ 07054 or the Joan Knechel Cancer Center c/o HRMC Foundation, 651 Willow Grove Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 in gratitude for the extraordinary care provided to her in the last days of her life.
