Obituary of Lynn Marie Jones

Lynn Marie (Burton) Jones, age 57, of Glen Gardner, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 17, 2020, surrounded by her family and loved ones after a courageous 37-year battle with complications from her treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Lynn was born on January 25, 1963, in Washington, DC, and was a loving daughter of Charles Pierce (Sandy) Burton II and Barbara Baltzel Burton of Lebanon, NJ. She was an adoring mother of her son A. Eli Jones, loving companion of JT Campbell of Easton, PA, and devoted sister to Lisa Ann Burton of Bar Harbor, ME and Judith Lee (Burton) Gaines of Kettering, OH. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Charles Eugene and Beryl Dunn Baltzel, and her paternal grandparents Malcolm Vreeland and Mary Bobb Burton.

Lynn spent the early part of her life in Allendale, NJ where she excelled in the classroom and on the basketball and field hockey teams. After moving to Lebanon, NJ she graduated early from North Hunterdon Regional High School in 1980 and moved to Rockford, IL. There she earned her degree in nursing and worked as an LPN and then earned her AS in Computer Science. After returning to New Jersey, she worked for AT&T as a systems analyst and she and her former husband Robert A. Jones adopted their beloved son Eli. Lynn's most fulfilling occupation was as a full-time mother to Eli, whom she adored and loved with all her heart.

Lynn was a devout Episcopalian with a strong faith in the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ, and her faith grew as a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Lebanon, NJ under the guidance and friendship of the Reverend Philip Carr-Jones. She also loved the outdoors, was an avid birder, a member of the NJ Audubon Society, and a volunteer at Sand Bluff bird banding station in Durand, IL. She loved gardening, hiking, snorkeling, swimming, and she earned her black belt in Isshin-Ryu karate.

A devoted and loving wife, companion, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and friend, Lynn will be lovingly remembered for her contagious laugh, stubborn independence, courageous will, strong faith, and generous spirit and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
