Dear Ney Family,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the death of your father and grandfather. I was the conductor of the Silver Belles and Beaus singing group of which Dick was an integral part for so many years. He shared his love of music with all of us, and gave freely of his time when we performed at nursing homes and veterans hospitals. Dick told us a wonderful story of how he and fellow GI’s stationed in Bavaria after WW II attended Christmas Eve services at a local church. Americans and Germans joined in the singing of “Silent Night” and afterwards shared greetings and hearty handshakes. Starting in 2015, Dick’s story was part of our group’s Christmas concert tradition. I’ll never forget it, or my friend Dick. He was gracious, kind and so very generous. He will be missed. I’ve included a photo of Dick with our accompanist Craig Hughes, at the celebration of the SBB 25th anniversary in 2019. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Sincerely,
Michele Collins
