Margaret was a rare friend who cared deeply about all she met no matter how far away they lived. I will always remember the piece of chocolate her and Denys had evry night as a treat and their hospitality! I remember receiving kudos and butter cookies through the mail and being surprised whenever they came. But most of all I will always remember her sharing stories of how proud she was of Judy & Sue and her grandchildren. I will miss her humor and her awesome smile & voice which just sent out so mjuch love from her heart. And most of all I treasure her love & appreciation for life which seemed to flow out of surviving WWII in her beloved England. And a special wish for the family she loved so dearly, may you always cherish the kisses she sends to you through the wind and may you feel the warmth of her love for you in your heart.

I met Margaret years ago when I first started playing field hockey. It was my extreme pleasure to play field hockey with the true masters of North Jersey field hockey, Margaret, Sophie Dixon and Lillian Wright.
When I took over the presidency of North Jersey, our treasury was almost none existent. I went to Margaret and asked her if she could help us out by donating something to our raffle. With her usual smile and twinkle in her eye, she donated equipment and the raffle was a huge success. For me the enjoyment of field hockey was more about the experience of enjoying the camaraderie and history lessons from Margaret and the other wonderful "true masters" than of playing the actual game. She will truly be missed by all the members of the N.J.F.H.A.

On behave of the North Jersey Field Hockey Coaches Association, we would like to expresses our deepest sympathies in Margaret’s passing. Margaret was an inspiration to all women that participated in the sport of Field Hockey. I still remember, no too long ago, playing against Margaret in the NJFHA League. And at the North Jersey Banquet, the entire place was silent as she spoke. We all would have listened to her for hours because she was a part of Field Hockey History, and keep that history alive. Margaret will always be apart of the North Jersey Field Hockey History, and her memory will be keep alive through the Association. She will truly be missed.

Margaret, the face of NJ Field Hockey, was a gift to us all. Not only was she so kind and warm to me as I joined the ranks of NJFHA, but she shared her passion for field hockey with everyone. How lucky am I to have been the recipient of her generosity of spirit.

Sue and Judy:
Your Mom was a wonderful woman and role model for the two of you and your children. Always there with a kind word and fun story to tell. Christmas Eve was more fun on the years she joined us. I will always remember her warm smile and joyous laugh ... Sue ... I know where you get your laugh :).
I am sorry I won't be able to be there tomorrow but I am still sick and don't want to get everyone sick and can't do the drive.
I will be thinking of all of you tomorrow and in the weeks and months to come. I hope your memories of your Mom are soon able to warm your heart as they do mine.
Love, Teri, Gil & James

'Mums'- that is what I called Margaret. She got a kick out of it. But I really thought of her as a 'Mums' and all the things that title brings to mind. Margaret's second family was Field Hockey and in particular- North Jersey FH. She had the 'Mums' feeling for us - love, concern, pride, joy, thoughtfulness and optimism. She played with us, taught us, scolded us, looked out for us,kept us together, made us smile and helped us remember "the good ol' days". Mums kept hockey alive for many of us after our true "playing" days were over and we owe her a big 'Thank You" for that. I am thankful that I got to know Mums' daughters and grandchildren. They all reflect her positive spirit and her words for 'gray' days- "I'll be OK - I'll manage". As we post these words about Mums, another little candle appears on the web site. But Mums was a GIANT CANDLE who gave her light and love to all aroud her. I am fortunate to have been touched by that love and light and I will do my best to keep it burning in her memory. I'll miss you Mums.

Margaret was a very dear friend of our family and especially my mother, Gertrude Diss. These two ladies, next door neighbors for almost 40 years, shared half a lifetime as they raised their children, swapped Mets stories and bowled together, all while celebrating the good times and supporting each other through the bad ones. As for me, I knew I had finally reached adulthood when Mrs. T became "Margaret." We have lost a very good friend.

I was so saddened to learn our hockey world has lost such a wonderful and caring mentor. Like many others, Margaret was initially introduced to me in the 80’s as the “Stick Lady.” She eventually became my coach for the North Jersey Nomads at Festival, then competitor in North Jersey Field Hockey, then teammate, supporter, and of course friend. Her energy and enthusiasm for field hockey was amazing and inspirational to me and so, so many others. I will miss her and her infectious smile – my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

I'm very saddened by Margaret's passing. I have played field hockey since I was 14 in 1986. I still play today with the NJFHA and Margaret has always been a beacon of leadership in motivating and helping girls and coaches alike throughout NJ with a great sport. I don't think I would have the passion for this sport today if it weren't for Margaret. Thanks Margaret!

My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends, and just know that she touched many lives over the years!

Margaret will always be with the 2 of us in heart & spirit. Meeting her at No. Jersey hockey, over 35 years ago, she became our teacher; coach; cheerleader and most of all, lifelong friend. Our annual "old timer's" brunch will never be the same. Thank you Margaret for inspiring so MANY toward the game of field hockey - especially the both of us! We owe you, Sophie and Peggy for showing us that hockey creates teamwork; spirit and most of all lasting friendships. We will miss you.

The fall and field hockey will not be the same. There will be a huge void. Whether coaching against her and her always tough Mount teams, or sitting next to her the past few years at the county finals, I loved my time with Margaret and counted on seeing her and having a good chat. I enjoyed talking about hockey with Margaret. Her passion for the game and the kids who played it was infectious. I will really miss seeing her this fall. All of us that knew her on any level, are better people for it. Margaret, you will be missed!

I'm not sure where to start because I cannot remember a time in my adult life when I did not know Margaret. A finer and more generous person you will not find. I will miss her phone calls to wish us luck in our county tournament finals (except when we played the Mount, of course :) ). It is impossible to imagine the fall without our field hockey mother. She was loved by all who met her, and she loved us back just as much as much as she loved her hockey. The number of people influenced by her covers the world. It has been an honor and a privilege to know her and I will treasure her friendship forever. This one's for you Margaret: "Ray, Rah Hockey...See you next year!"

I first met Margaret as the mother of a school friend – Judy Twine. Judy and I were in the band together; our first year of High School we both signed up for marching band. By my junior year Margaret had convinced me that the field hockey pitch was a much better place to spend afternoons in the fall. By my senior year field hockey was a part of my life. I will never forget her passion for the game and how much she gave back to the sport she loved. “Ray Rah Hockey”

She has touched so many lives and will be missed!!! I thank Margaret for my success in field hockey as she spent time coaching me as well always very encouraging to me to pursue my dreams and thanks to Margaret many came true. My thoughts and sympathy to all who loved and respected Margaret, a Mom, a wife, a teacher and a coach!

To me Margaret was the Applebee of North Jersey and she was also the "Stick Lady". I'm glad I was able to attend her 80th B-day celebration. Margaret was a special person who gave so much to the hockey world and was always on top of things. As a "Masters" team member, I will always remember her hanging out w/ Sophie & Peggy while we played and her kind, gentle smile.
