Obituary of Donal Peter Conway

Dr. Donal Peter Conway of Bethlehem Twp., NJ (Hunterdon County) was born to Aloysius and Helen Conway on April 22, 1932 in Teaneck, NJ, and died on June 27, 2009. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity. He followed with a Master Degree and completed his Ph.D. at Cornell University in Parasitology. Donal was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Donal became an Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, from 1960-1964. In 1965 Donal joined Pfizer Inc., Animal Health Division and retired from Pfizer in 1995. Donal continued as a consultant and formed Conway Associates. Donal was member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. He also was an active member of the American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists; Poultry Science Association; and the Federation of Animal Science Society. Donal gave his time and was a member of the Hunterdon County Conservatory. Donal was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of Saint Ann in Hampton, NJ.Donal is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gladys Webster, siblings, Dorothy Sorsby, Seminole, Fl., Al and Luce Conway, Fuguay Varina, NC, Jerry and Barbara Conway, Raleigh, NC, Gene and Rachel Conway, Canandaigua, NY. His children, Eileen and Robert Montgomery, Magnolia, TX., Dan and Sheri Conway, Corydon, In., Patricia Conway and Robert Diamant, St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer and Peter Ianacone, Plumsteadville, PA., and Robert Conway, Landsdale, PA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Peter Donal, Elias and Jane Ianacone; Meghan, Shannon and Kelly Montgomery; Sean and Daniele Conway, Morgan Conway, Jennifer and Rachel Diamant; and Erin Conway. They loved and adored their Pop-Pop. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.Donal enjoyed many passions; fishing, hiking, birding, traveling and organizing his photo collection. Donal was a true outdoorsman with a great love and appreciation for life and his family. He was a wonderful Son, Brother and Uncle; A loving and caring Husband, Father and Pop-Pop. He will be greatly missed by all of us.There will be a Memorial Gathering on Wednesday, July 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ 08809 - #908-735-7180. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Thursday, July 2nd at 10:00 am at St. Ann's RC Church, 30 Church Street, Hampton, NJ 08827 - #908-537-2221. Family & Friends are invited to meet DIRECTLY at the Church on Thursday morning.The Interment will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery on the Church grounds immediately following the Mass also on Thursday morning.
