Howie was the first person who took me to a jazz club. I was probably 16 when he, Rick Sher and I (and probably another girl) took a bus into NYC and went to a wonderful jazz club in the Village. It started me on a journey. I am so grateful to Howie for opening my life to that wonderful music. He was a charmer, and I always smile when I think of that night….and of him.
