Obituary of Judith E. Newton

Judith E. Newton, age 70, of Washington Twp., NJ (Warren County) died Monday, May 23, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Newton had battled cancer for 14 years and it caused her death but never took her faith nor her unstoppable spirit. She was an inspiration to many. Mrs. Newton was born July 18, 1940 in Stamford, CT. She was the daughter of the late George Stuart and the late Elizabeth (Links) Clark. She resided in Washington Twp., NJ for the past 7 years and had lived in Vero Beach Fl. for 2 years after spending 35 years in Lebanon Twp. Judy was a Registered Nurse and the former owner of Newton's Guest Homes in Hunterdon County. Judy retired from Hagedorn Hospital where she was Nursing Supervisor on the evening shift. Judy was an active member of Lebanon Township First Aid Squad for 29 years, a Red Cross crisis volunteer serving during 9/11 at Liberty Park and Newark Airport, and was very active in Girl Scouts during her younger years as both scout and leader. Judy loved life, people, and doing for others. Judy was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Flemington. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clinton Newton Jr. , her daughters, Sharon Faith Newton Cudworth and her husband Colin of Washington, NJ, and Mary Elizabeth Newton and her partner Karen Schuyler of Lebanon Township. Her sons, Clinton Newton III and his wife Nicki of Wilson Borough, Pa. and David Newton of San Francisco, California. Judy is also survived by grandchildren Colleen Newton Wyble and her husband Rich of Alpha, Megan Newton of Easton Pa., Crystal Newton and her fiancé Bryan Jeffrey of Baltimore, MD, Judy Newton of Lebanon Township, Sharon Jr., Colin Jr., Elizabeth, Victorine, Clinton, and Clark Cudworth of Washington. Judy is survived by Great-Grandchildren Richie and Amber Wyble and Alexandria, Daniel, and Aaron Stecker all of Alpha. Judy is also survived by brothers Charles Clark of North Plainfield and Dr. George Clark and his wife Helga of Easton, Md. The Visitation will take place Thursday, May 26th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Service held on Friday, May 27th at 11:00 am also at the Funeral Home. The Interment will be held on Friday, May 27 at Spruce Run Cemetery in Lebanon Township, NJ.
