Obituary of Nelson R. Avery

Nelson R. Avery, age 91, of Benson, NY passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at Rolling Hills Care Center of Clinton Township, NJ. Mr. Avery was born January 4, 1920 in Gloversville, NY. He was the son of the late Nelson Edward and the late Laura Belle (Todd) Avery. He was Longtime Resident of Benson, NY he has been living in Raritan Twp. for the past 20 months. Mr. Avery served in the US Air Force during WW ll. He worked for General Utility Bag Company in Jersey City, NJ and Singer Sewing Machine Co in NY as a machinist. He loved the Adirondacks Mountains of NY State. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting & fishing. He was also an avid basketball player who played in high school as well as numerous recreational leagues. He is survived by his wife: Sally (Menta) Avery , two daughters: Linda Gyuro of Pittstown, NJ, Deborah Lynn Avery of Tampa, Fla. and three sons: Nelson Richard Avery of Arizona, Jeffrey Scott Avery of Holland Township, NJ, Paul Edward Avery of Tampa, FLA.; his grandchildren, Nelson Todd, Melissa, Alison, Laurel & Jeffrey James. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 12:00-4:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Rt 31 Clinton, NJ. There will be a Funeral Service at 3:00 pm following the visitation.
