Obituary of Dr. J. Scott Thomson
Dr. J. Scott Thomson of North Chili, NY, died suddenly on November 24, 2011 at the age of 42. Born at Hunterdon County Medical Center in Flemington, NJ, he graduated from North Hunterdon HS and from Houghton College with a BS in Chemistry prior to pursuing a career in medicine. After obtaining his MD degree from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ, he completed a Neurology residency and Nerve Conduction/EMG fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. He practiced Neurology for several years in New Jersey, then pursued an interest in Neuroradiology. He completed a Radiology residency and Neuroradiology fellowship in Rochester, NY, where he remained, working for the University of Rochester's Strong Health system.
Dr. Thomson developed a keen interest in woodworking. He may have loved searching for interesting hardwoods and buying new equipment as much as he loved the woodworking itself. He cherished spending time with family and through the years enjoyed family trips to Bermuda, Scotland, Arizona, and most recently Disney World.
Surviving are his parents, Dr. John and Alyce Thomson of Clinton, NJ; his grandmother Henrietta Thomson of Xenia, OH; his sister and brother-in-law Linda and Dr. Joseph "Trip" Schweighardt of Wayne, NJ; his brother and sister-in-law Dr. Robert and Alicia Thomson of Rochester, NY; and his nieces and nephews Kristin Watson and her husband Andy, Joey and Kyle Schweighardt, and Sarah and Joshua Thomson.
A service will be held at South Ridge Community Church in Clinton, NJ on Wednesday November 30, 2011 at noon. Viewing hours will begin at 10 AM.
