Genevieve Polizzotti

Obituary of Genevieve Marie Polizzotti

Genevieve Marie Polizzotti, a long-time resident of the Milford area, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the New York Presbyterian hospital in New York City. Born in San Diego in 1944 to Raymond J. and Georgette P. Berube (both deceased), Gen spent her youth in Massachusetts, and lived briefly in Illinois while her husband earned his PhD at the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana. During this time, her love for animals became abundantly clear when her husband came home to find several ducks in his bathtub. In addition to her love for animals, Gen had a passion for art. She was a dedicated artist, successful in many forms including sculpture, ceramics, pastels, early American theorem and most recently, fabric art concentrating on art quilts. Gen and Dick moved to Alexandria Township in 1982. Gen's exuberance for life and the pure joy and love she exuded gained her many life-long and dedicated friendships. Gen had many interests, but was especially devoted to her quilting - holding several positions in the Courthouse Quilters and participating in both the Golden Girls quilting group and the Material Divas. She also loved spending time with her friends and family, puttering in her garden, and zooming around on her scooter. Gen's love of animals endured throughout her life, with a special interest in birds. Gen had a strong bond with her African Gray parrot, Dixie Lee. They would often share a bowl of ice cream for a late night treat. She was a member of the Cornell Center for Ornithology and she sponsors an African Gray named Quasi at the Oasis Sanctuary. Gen is survived by her loving family - husband Richard, son Mark and his wife Carrie, sister Dorothy J. Sapienza, grandchildren Devin, Scout, Tess and Gaetano, mother-in-law Ida Polizzotti, and several nieces and nephews. Gen's Life Celebration includes visitation on Thursday July 19th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Rt. 31, Clinton, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday July 20th at 10:00am at the Immaculate Conception Churc, 316 Old Allerton Rd., Annandale, NJ. Entombment will follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery and Mausoleum located on the church grounds. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home at above address. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Oasis Bird Sanctuary in memory of Genevieve Polizzotti. The Oasis Sanctuary, PO Box 2166, Scottsdale, AZ 85252 or www.the-oasis.org.
