I worked with Janice in the magazines department at IEEE. She was not only one of the finest editors I've ever had the privilege of working with, she was also a source of steady strength and character. Janice wouldn't take crap from anyone, and I looked up to her immensely. When I was going through a divorce, Janice and Peni were both so kind to me, always ready to lend a hand and also counsel. I'm very grateful to have known Janice, and I'm so sorry, Peni, for your loss.

My deepest sympathy to all on the loss of my dear cousin Jannie. She was a wonderful lady that I knew from birth. She will be greatly missed. I will miss her beautiful Christmas letters telling us all about her travels with Peni and the family get-togethers during the year. Rest in peace

Jan, Peni & I have spent much time together hiking the Appalachian Trail. Many of these excursions involved camping in different states -- my mind has been flooded with a myriad of these wonderful memories over the last several days. Jan has always been an inspiration - her strength and will to survive was amazing. I will miss her and grateful that I was able to see her in late April. Her suffering is over; rest in peace.
I am a high school friend of Peni's and was not lucky enough to meet Jan. I am so sorry to Peni and Jan's family for this way too early passing of who sounds like a wonderful, giving human being. My heart goes out to all of you.

Janice had been my trainer at the Y and helped me get back into shape while losing close to 100 lbs. I first met her in 2007 and so appreciated her kind and helpful suggestions. I admired her calm demeanor and fierce courage in dealing with her devastating diagnosis. That she managed to keep it at bay for 9 years is a powerful example of determination and optimism. I so enjoyed her company when I knew her and will miss her very much. I send my profound sympathy to you all for your loss.
My sincere condolences to Jan's family. I played field hockey with Jan so many years ago and what a wonderful person I remember. Peni, may you be surrounded by family and friends and wonderful memories.
I remember that Jan and Penny enjoyed the outdoors and hiking. May Jan's spirit grace the trails and her voice be heard to whisper in the pines. Rest in peace.
Although we have not seen Jan for many years, we are struck by the immediate remembrance of her being 100%, pure love. A gentle soul - very much an angel disguised as a person. Penny, you and Jan absolutely brought out the best in each other, and your relationship embodied the respect and devotion for which all all couples should strive.
If Jan had been offered a different life in exchange for more time earth, she would never have chosen it. Her priorities were filled with the deepest empathy and compassion for others, and her unyielding love and admiration for Penny. When in her presence, we could feel Jan's acceptance and love. Just standing next to her, we knew, without question, we were entirely safe. What a gift it was to be loved by Jan.
How blessed we were to know her. How terribly sorry we are for your grief. Years cannot lessen our love, blessings, and strength that we send to you now and always.
I will always remember Jan, we played field hockey with north jersey field hockey and I was a new comer and she made sure I was welcomed
I pray for Jan to be resting in peace and that all her loved her will find comfort in her memories
