Dear Jirouschek Family- Words of condolence or prayer will never be enough to ease your pain. Though I pray that the lord will find you some comfort as the days go bye. The saying must be true, that only the good die you. For Barbara was definitely one on the GREAT ones. I remember her kind soul and loving spirit doing our family vacations and events. She had the smile of an angel. I know that she is singing with the angels and in Gods hands. It's not what you take when you leave this world behind you but what you leave behind you when you go. Barbara left a gift of love to all of you and that is priceless. May your hearts mend knowing that. Please call us for anything. God Bless.
Love Always,
The Appleby Family

I am really sorry to hear about this. Barbara was becoming a good friend. I only talked to her the Saturday before as we made plans to investigate a stained glass place yesterday. I knew should would never forget so this was a shock. We and our cat, who adored her, will surely miss her!!

I remember meeting Babara when she lived in Califon, and attended many women's softball games to cheer the team on! She also sang in the choir of my church St. John Neumann. She always had a smile on her face. I also took communion to Barbara after her last back surgery. We had a pleasant visit and I was blest to bring her the Body of Christ. May she rest in peace.

Barbara...in the small time that i got to know her, she made such a big impact. We could all learn from her on how to be a really good friend. She was just a really good person and good people are so hard to find these days. I'm always hesitant to let new people in my life and with Barb it was easy to let her in and she became like part of our family some how. I didn't realize this until now that she is gone and I really miss her. She wore her heart on her sleeve. She was always looking out for my mom and what was so crazy is that she got my mom, she knew her the way i know my mom and can't put it in words but if Barb was still here she'd know what I mean. She saw the depth of people and even with our flaws loved unconditionally. She was a true friend. I know she is with Jesus! She is in heaven where she is loved so deeply and i know she is feeling so accepted and loved and experiencing so much happiness! She's no longer in pain and is at peace. That is what makes me happy knowing this. I will miss her hanging out by the pool with us and i will even miss her talking and talking and talking LOL! And i was just thinking how much i am going to miss her texts too. She was a good texter. Well i just was looking at the last text she sent to me and its a picture of Charlie Brown reading the bible and it says: There is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit and no better text than God's word. If you agree type Amen. Amen! She will forever be in my heart until i see her again!

Dear Gloria and Janet and family:
I only met Barbara twice, once when she was very little and again when she was a girl, so I didn't really know her but I did know that she came from a loving family and I know she was raised in the light of your deep faith, Gloria, and active participation in Christian and
Community outreach. Reading the other tributes, I see that all of that rubbed off on her in a
vibrant and unique way.
In this very trying time please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate the waters of shock and grief. May God's enduring peace comfort you, as you recall how deeply she touched the lives of others and, in so doing reflected, His Love and Faithfulness. You can't have a more meaningful life than that.
Love, Dolores

Barbara was my “little” cousin, and she will be sorely missed especially at family gatherings. Big haha on the “little” as she towered over me and LOVED to use my head to rest her arm on. Her jokes and teasing made get togethers a blast. She is loved and will be missed. Catherine (and Brian)

Barbara was my "little" sister. We did not enjoy a typical sisterly relationship. No shopping sprees or girl's weekends. Instead, we'd pick on each other, laugh at each other, and then join forces to pick on and laugh at the rest of the world. Sarcasm is our second language. I'd often find myself rolling my eyes at the awkward things she said or did and she'd roll her eyes at the snobby way I'd do things. That was us.
But through all our lives, we had each other's back. My children were her children. She was helpful to a fault, but it killed her to ask for help. She was loving of our mother. She was my Nick's godmother. She was creative - we have a set of Christmas ornaments that she painted for each of us. She played a little guitar for herself. She liked to ride her bike at the beach. She LOVED the NY Mets and loved the New York football Giants even more. Her "Jersey" came out when either team played their rival.
She paved her own path - never caring what others thought of her choices. She had a PURE HEART. If she thought it, you knew it because there was no pretense and she didn't have a filter. She was brutally honest. She was conscientious in her work and a mess in her private life. She learned from our mother that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing and so there were times where she was silent.
Barbara kept us laughing. If there was a holiday and she wasn't at the table it didn't seem like a special day. She drove all over God's green Earth to be with people for special occasions. When my son's baseball team was in the Little League World Series regional tournament she drove to Bristol CT for the day to watch him play.
She was always there for you, even if you couldn't be there for her. Barbara tolerated a lot of physical and emotional pain for most of her life. She wore the weight of the world on her shoulders. She was a rare treasure and I will miss her. Who is going to tell me how the Crankees are losing and the Mets are going to the World Series every year?

Barbara cared deeply for people and gave generously of herself. She always wanted to help others and share a kind word or make them laugh. Whether she helped a person in the grocery store who need something on a high shelf or see someone struggling with packages or hold the door, or something needed fixing, she was there to help (and sometimes whether you wanted it or not!) She was big on printing out encouraging words, or quotes to lift her own Spirit and share it to lift yours too. That was the Barb we grew to love and will miss. This is one of her SIMPLE REMINDERS that she shared with me. YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU LAUGH. FORGET THE BAD AND FOCUS ON THE GOOD. LOVE THE PEOPLE WHO TREAT YOU RIGHT, PRAY FOR THE ONES WHO DON'T. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE ANYTHING BUT HAPPY. FALLING DOWN IS A PART OF LIFE, GETTING BACK UP IS LIVING. God Blessed us for a season with Barbara and May her family and friends be comforted and at peace with wonderful memories to hold in their hearts forever. God Bless you all!
