Obituary of Andrew William Finer

Andrew William Finer, age 55, of Clinton Township, NJ passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. Drew was born August 2, 1958 in Rahway, NJ. He was the beloved son of the late Roland W. and the late Gloria (Egan) Finer. He began his career in 1982 at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ as a Respiratory Therapist. In 1985 he became the Director of Respiratory Therapy at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ and later moved to their facility in New Brunswick, NJ where he most recently served as the Director of Clinical Technology. Drew was passionate about his job and found it both meaningful and rewarding. He enjoyed coming to work to make a difference in children's lives. He was a member of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and was recently nominated director-at-large of the New Jersey Society of Respiratory Care (NJSRC). Andrew enjoyed bass and pike fishing in his beloved state of Maine. He and his family spent a lot of time together at their cabin in Belgrade Lakes, Maine. Drew was a University of Maine Black Bears fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a 1977 graduate of Union Catholic High School in Scotch Plains, NJ and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Sharon (Young), his sons; Andrew, Matthew and Michael, his sister, Susan Finer Fazio of Toms River, NJ, his brother, Thomas Finer of Cranford, NJ, his mother-in-law, Mary Young of Scotch Plains, NJ and nine nieces and nephews. Drew's Life Celebration includes visitation on Friday, November 22nd from 4:00 to 9:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, NJ. There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's RC Church, 59 Main Street, High Bridge, NJ. Family & friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Saturday morning. The interment will immediately follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Clinton Twp., NJ. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation , the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey or to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center.
